Mission

Founded in 1968, the Tacoma Urban League is devoted to empowering African Americans and other disenfranchised groups to enter the economic and social mainstream.

From its earliest days in the civil rights movement, through years of partnership with government and public agencies, the Tacoma Urban League has been a beacon of hope and a catalyst in the South Puget Sound community.

To exemplify an organization of excellence with a catalogue of services and programs designed to promote self sufficiency, educational and health equity, economic empowerment and social justice.

Mission

To assist African Americans, other ethnic groups and/or any disenfranchised person in the achievement of social equality and economic independence.

Our Services

The Tacoma urban League serves children, youth and adults in partnership with government entities, business groups, public agencies and private donors throughout the area. As one of 100 affiliates of the National Urban League, Tacoma Urban League serves more than 3,500 individuals and families each year through direct service, community outreach and advocacy activities. We have achieved a 40 year milestone and made our mark as an advocate for our community with a focus on awareness, information and support around the plight of our constituent base.
